A Brief History of Time... since 1976

    January 1976

    Dan was born on 6th January 1976, the 12th day after Christmas, in Milltown NJ, where he was named the bicentennial baby and his birth certificate placed in Milltown's bicentennial time capsule.

     

    Summer 1978

    When he was two and a half, Dan's mom sent his picture to a modelling agency in New York. 3 days and one interview later Dan got his first job modelling a sailor outfit, and soon after he started appearing on toy packaging and in department store catalogues.

     

    Spring 1979

    When Dan was 3, he made his first national TV commercial. He also did commercials where he was seen skating with Peggy Fleming and boxing with Bob Hope.

     

    Summer 1979

    At three and a half, Dan started a 5 year run as the TV son of multi-millionaire Paul Stenbeck in "As the World Turns"

     

    Summer 1983

    In August 1983, Dan appeared in his first full length movie. Directed by Lewis Teague, Dan played Tad Trenton, a small boy who's afraid of monsters in his closet and who befriends, and is then later terrorised by, a St. Bernard named "Cujo". The movie, also named "Cujo", is based on the story by Stephen King in which a friendly St. Bernard contracts rabies and then goes about his reign of terror in a small American town. Dan was chosen to play the part from over 200 hopefuls and is simply amazing. Dan received a nomination for Best Supporting Child Actor in a Major Motion Picture at the Youth in Film awards for his role in this movie. To buy a copy of this movie, click (Here)

     

    Fall 1984

    On 20th September 1984, Dan appeared in the first of many episodes of the ABC series "Who's the Boss?". Dan played Jonathan Bower, son of career-woman Angela Bower (Judith Light) in this TV sitcom about a male housekeeper (Tony Danza), a career-woman, their two children (Danny Pintauro and Alyssa Milano) and man-crazy grandmother (Katherine Helmond). Recorded over 8 years, Dan grows from an adorable little boy into a handsome young man.

    Note: "Who's the Boss?" was re-scripted, re-cast and remade in the UK as "The Upper Hand" with William Puttockplaying Dan's role.

     

    Spring 1985

    Directed by Ken Kwapis, Dan appeared in his second movie "Dear Lola" as the young orphan boy Ben. This movie was later shown on the Disney channel as "The Beniker Gang" and was released on Karl-Lorimar Video under that name too. Dan's PR company said of him... "Danny is an all-round child who loves to swim, build, and romp in the snow. His favourite subject at school is math. Danny lives with his parents, their two dogs, and a parakeet".     Winter 1985

    In January 1986, Dan was nominated for Best Supporting Actor In a Series for his part in "Who's the Boss?"

     

    Winter 1986

    Directed by Michael Schultz, Dan appeared in his third movie "Timestalkers". A made-for-TV movie from Fries Entertainment, "Timestalkers" was a CBS movie of the week in which Dan played the son of a history professor who became involved with some time travellers and travelled back to 1886.     Fall 1987

    On 16th/23rd September, Dan appeared as the orphan Alex in "Man's Best Friend" the two part season opener of "Highway To Heaven"

     

    Spring 1988

    In 1988 Dan appeared on the game show "Scrabble" with Chad Allen and Brice Beckham.

     

    Spring 1989

    On 4th April 1989, Dan appeared on "Good Morning America"

     

    Summer 1989

    Dan hosted the ABC special "The Miracle Babies of Sea World" with Joanna Kerns

     

    Fall 1989

    In October, Dan joined several other stars in lending their support to Ben Vereen's "Celebrities for a Drug-Free America", and on 20th/21st October Dan joined several other young actors at a benefit haunted house at Mountain View's San Antonio shopping centre. The young actors were donating their time to help Global Youth Resource Organization raise funds for Pathway Society's teen drug abuse project. In November, Dan presented toys, games, hobbies and crafts on the "Family Fun" segment of the J.C.Penney TV Shopping Channel

    Winter 1989

    In December, Dan spoke to a class of 7th and 8th graders at Folwell Junior High School, Minneapolis, to urge them to help make a difference to their futures and that of their community. On 23rd December, Dan appeared with Danica McKellar, Josh Saviano, Nicole Eggert and Jermey Miller as guests on "Wide World Of Kids". On 14th January 1990, Dan joined several other ABC stars in the new comedy series "Jury Duty" which was directed by Michael Schultz from Dan's third movie "Timestalkers".

     

    Winter 1990

    In January 1991, Dan appeared at a benefit performance by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Los Angeles, and in February, Dan, his parents and their 3 dogs moved to a new home. By this time Dan was also the national youth chairman for the April 7 Multiple Sclerosis Super Cities Walk.

     

    Spring 1991

    In March, Dan talked to students at the Gardner Elementary School, Hollywood, about their future in LA.

     

    Summer 1991

    In June, Dan started rehearsing his cradle/trampoline act for "Circus of the Stars".

     

    Fall 1991

    On 29th November, Dan appeared performing his cradle/trampoline act in " Circus of the Stars"

     

    Winter 1991

    On 18th December, Dan was seen in a repeat showing of his guest appearance with Chuck Woolery.

    On 6th January 1992, Dan celebrated his 16th birthday, and bought himself a Jeep Wrangler.

     

    Spring 1992

    On 25th April, and after 8 seasons (3 of them in the top-10 ratings), "Who's the Boss?", ended with a one hour special, and a Youth in Film Award for Dan for an "Exceptional Performance by a Young Actor in a Long Running Series." Dan had been working after school as a veterinary assistant and said that he would continue to audition for other TV work but that he'd like to spend more time concentrating on his education so that he could become a veterinarian after college.

     

    Summer 1992

    On 29th May, there was a repeat showing of Dan's guest appearance on Joan Rivers "Teens on the tube", and on 12th June 1992, Dan appeared along with Staci Keanan, Jonathan Taylor Thomas and a several other young stars on CBS's "Busch Gardens-Sea World Summer Safari"

    Winter 1994

    In 1994, Dan went to Stanford University to study English and Drama. During his stay, he performed in, stage managed and directed several on campus productions; played trumpet in the Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band, and remained close friends with Judith Light and Tony Danza, from "Who's the Boss?".

     

    Summer 1997

    In July 1997, Dan appeared on "Entertainment Tonight", and gave several press interviews including those with the National Enquirer and XY Magazine.

     

    Summer 1998

    On May 4th, Dan appeared on "Intimate Portrait" with Judith Light.

     

    Summer 1998

    On June 14th 1998, Dan graduated from Stanford University, and returned to his native East Coast USA to pursue further education and a career in theater. Having seen three plays he directed whilst at Stanford University, I think he has a fine career ahead of him! One such play, "Shakespeare's Sonnets," is available on tape. "Written by Samuel Park and directed by Dan, it follows 50 years in the lives of two gay men, together and apart, as they live through the oppressive McCarthy years and discover a world of pain, love, and desire. Beginning in 1948, a young man in college discovers the things that he likes best: theater, Shakespeare's sonnets, and his friend Adam. It is about the moments he remembers, ones that for the rest of his life will keep his heart afloat, and ablaze."     Summer 1999

    In May 1999, Dan had a number of projects in the works, including the one man show "The Velocity of Gary (Not His Real Name)." that played July 8th through 30th in New York City.

     

    Fall 1999

    From 3rd September thru October 17th, Dan appeared as "Calvin" in Paula Vogel's (Pulitzer Prize winning playwright for "How I Learned to drive") play "Hot 'n' Throbbing" at the Arena stage in Washington DC.

    In November 1999, Dan appeared as "Lord Alfred Douglas" in the Charlotte (N.C.) Repertory Theatre's production of "Gross Indecency" at Blumenthal Center in downtown Charlotte.     Summer 2000

    In June, an interview with Dan appeared in the June 26th issue of People Weekly.

     

    Fall 2000

    In September 2000, Dan brought his aclaimed performance as Gary in the one man show "The Velocity of Gary, Not His Real Name" to The New Conservatory Theatre Center in San Francisco.

    To coincide with the show, Dan also gave in a number of interviews including those in the San Francisco Chronicle, Bay Area Reporter, Joey Magazine. the September 2000 issue of QSF, and a cover story in the 9/26 issue of The Advocate.

    The show received great reviews from both fans and press alike.

    In October, Dan took The Velocity of Gary (Not His Real Name) on the road, first to Theater!Theater! in Portland, Ore on Oct 4-7 (where The Oregonian caught up with him); then to The Duplex in New York on Oct. 14, 21 and 28.

    Dan appeared on the ABC special "E! Favorite Stars: Then & Now" at 9pm on May 7th 2002, and at New York's Fringe Fest in August.

    On September 2nd, Dan appeared with his "Who's the Boss?" co-stars on "TV Tales" on E!.

     

    Winter 2002

    In December Danny appeared on stage in New York in SourceWorks Theatre's revival of "A QUEER CAROL," the critically acclaimed play by JOE GODFREY that resets the Dickens holiday classic among a group of gay men in contemporary Manhattan. Directed by MARK CANNISTRARO and featuring DANNY PINTAURO the show played at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE, 61 Christopher St. (at 7th Ave) from December 2nd-15th

    Spring 2003

    On February 9th, Dan appeared at the book launch party for "Plays and Playwrights 2003," an anthology of promising new plays published by the editor of nytheatre.com. There he performed a scene from "A Queer Carol," which was being published for the first time as part of the anthology.

    On June 18th, Dan appeared with Alyssa Milano on "Revealed with Jules Asner" on E!.

     

    Spring 2004

    February 11th - April 11th Dan appeared in the hilarious whodunit, "Shear Madness" at New Theatre Restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas. Please see www.newtheatre.com for details.

     

    On August 21st, Dan and Judith Light attended the Eleventh Annual Angel Awards.

     

    On November 8th, Dan appeared on "The Tony Danza Show".

     

    Spring 2006

    In 2006, watch for Dan as Stefan in "The Still Life".
