It's "homo for the holidays" as SourceWorks Theatre announces its revival of "A Queer Carol," the critically acclaimed play by Joe Godfrey that resets the Dickens holiday classic among a group of gay men in contemporary Manhattan. Directed by Mark Cannistraro and featuring Danny Pintauro (from TV' s "Who's The Boss"), the show plays at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE, 61 Christopher St. (at 7th Ave) from December 2nd-15th on the following days and times: December 2nd at 9:00 PM, December 4th at 7:00 PM, December 6th at 11:00 PM December 7th at 7:00 PM, December 10th at 7:00 PM, December 13th at 11:00 PM December 15th at 10:00 PM Tickets are $15 plus two drinks and available by calling SMARTTIX at (212) 206-1515 or on the web via www.smarttix.com. More information on "A QUEER CAROL" can be found at www.sourceworks.org This contemporary spin on the timeless holiday tale casts the famous characters in a new light. Ebenezer "Ben" Scrooge is a wealthy and prominent interior designer who spends his days decorating the Upper East Side homes of the rich and famous. Assisting Scrooge is none other than the hopelessly overworked Bob Cratchit, who must contend with both his employer's abuses and the care of his partner Tim, an East Village office temp struggling with HIV. When Scrooge huffily dismisses a fundraiser collecting for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, it sets a chain of ghostly visitations into motion, including appearances from the very dead---and very buff--Jacob Marley as well as the Ghosts Of Christmas Past (Marilyn Monroe) Present (a fierce black drag queen) and Future. Last year's premiere production of "A Queer Carol" wowed audiences and critics alike. Martin Denton from nytheatre.com wrote "The hippest, funniest and warmest stage version of Dickens' story that I've come across this year...you won't find a more good natured or warmhearted holiday treat anywhere in New York." Adrienne Onofri from Curtain Up called the show "a realistic and sensitive depiction of gay life that honors Dickens' message of love, goodwill and charity. It's welcome entertainment for anyone who just can't sit through another airing of 'A Christmas Story' or 'It's a Wonderful Life.'" Featured in the cast: Danny Pintauro, well known to millions of TV viewers for his seven year run as Jonathan Bower on the ABC TV series Who's The Boss? with Tony Danza and Judith Light. His theatrical credits include the New York and SF productions of "The Velocity Of Gary (Not His Real Name)" and "Beat" at the New York Fringe Festival; Marc Moritz, an original cast member of Broadway's "Merrily We Roll Along" who has also appeared in featured roles off-Broadway (Willow Cabin Theatre, the Mint) and regionally at such prestigious venues as Long Wharf and the Goodman; Kip Driver, whose credits include the National Tour of "Cats" as Munkustrap, the US premiere of "Martin Guerre," and the 2001 N'Sync tour; David Weincek, whose credits include off-Broadway's "Party" and "The Dressing Room;" and Tim Cross, whose credits include Sparky in the National Tour of "Forever Plaid;" Rounding out the cast are Valerie Hill, Michael Lynch, Greg Parente and Cynthia Pierce.
