Opening Night - San Francisco 9/9/2000

Wow, what a great show! Worth flying in for? Absolutely! Nothing you have seen on television will prepare you for the skill, depth and delivery of Danny on stage, live and in person. Further, for San Francisco, Danny has taken the role of Gary to new heights, creating a truly unique and unforgettable performance.

For over 90 minutes, the packed house watched Gary's life unfold. From sensual striptease, to phone sex and hustling, naive optimism and friendships giving way to discord and loss, then, ultimately, the birth of new hope. It's a gripping story, told through Gary's memories of New York, his relationships and need to survive.

Entertained and reflective, we met Danny afterward. Once again, we're left not only with great admiration and respect for him as an actor, but also for what an intelligent, energetic and nice guy he is off stage.

This a great script, great production, and unquestionable a "must see" performance, so rush, rush, rush to get your tickets now! You'll not forgive yourself if you miss it

I flew in for opening night for the west coast version of "The Velocity of Gary" and it truly was the best performance I have seen Dan in. His dedication and acting for this for this one man role was absolutely unforgettable. If there are any real die hard fans of Dan I would definitely encourage to you to go. It's nothing like the New York version. The script has been redone 100% and its longer.

I was talking to Mark Cannistraro, the director, and he said they will be taking this performance back to New York for the month of October at the Duplex Cabaret. He also said that Dan will be in the next months edition of "The Advocate" with a list of show times. So be sure to get to New York If you can't make it to San Francisco.

Trust me you will hate yourself if you miss it. It's also a great opportunity to meet him!

I just saw Dan last night in "The Velocity of Garry (Not his real name)" and I have got to say that Dan is an INCREDIBLY gifted, talented and extremely courageous and spirited young actor. His performance was extremely convincing and compelling, completely imensing the audience in the characters mind and experiences. As a previous student of drama myself, I know that a one man show like this is possibly the most difficult genre to convey convincingly to an audience, as all you have to rely on is yourself. There is no elaborate stage or set design, no special effects, no cast to "work off of"... just your own ability to carry the character with fundamental "raw theatre" talent, which is no easy task! Dan managed this with with much grace and professionalism and deserves all the praise in the world for his performance! I encourage all who haven't seen this show to see it! It truely showcases Dan's ability as a serious actor! I wish him all the success with his future projects and look forward to seeing him in San Francisco again!
